Fireworks Extravaganza on the lawn
A Rocketing Success! 5th November 2007
On Monday night, a sell-out audience of 450 people witnessed a spectacular evening of fireworks and entertainment to celebrate the return of Halswell House to its original purpose as a 'pleasure mansion'.
On arrival, guests were greeted by an eerie witch, a 'dead' butler and spooky bugs whilst fire performers juggled flaming torches to gasps from the crowd. As guests supped mulled wine and devoured the sumptuous hog roast in front of a roaring fire, it was a time for friends - old and new - to meet up and share the evening. The proceedings culminated with a truly dazzling pyrotechnic display much commented on and never before seen at Halswell in all its history.
A grand prize draw completed the evening with a very lucky winner taking first prize for a holiday for four in Spain. Other prizes were kindly donated by local businesses and the £494.15 raised was matched by Lloyds Bank - giving a total of £988.30 to St Margaret's Hospice.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the evening and all contributed to its enormous success. Therefore we will be making the Fireworks Extravaganza an annual event at Halswell House and we hope to see you all again next year. make it a date in your diary now!
For a visual run-down of the night's events please go to www.halswellevents and click on 'Fireworks Extravangza. If you have any photographs you would like to share then we would be more than happy to include them on the events website and credit you.
